2009 Camps

Our camps have a experienced coach and designed to provide education, competition, and just plain fun.  This camp gives training to junior sailors from beginning and novice sailors as well as experienced sailors.  There are optimists and sunfish boats available.  No need to own a boat yet however, sign up fast because there are only so many boats to go around. 

One week junior sailing camps are 4 - 5 day camps, running from 9am to 4pm for participants of varying skills and abilities.  The membership of GUST will cover any and all of the camps listed below.  Or if not a GUST member the cost for each one-week camp is $125

GUST membership consists of a full summer of sailing from May 30th through August 9th.  For $300 the GUST program includes all one-week camps, 5 regatta race weekends with coach support, racing clinic days and additional sailing camps available at GUST member clubs.  Pre-registration is required for each session.

Junior Sailors are between the ages of 7 to 18.

Paticipants will be required to wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket (PFD) while on the water and on nearby docks.

Participants are required to pass a swim test of 25 yards wearing a PFD on the first day of a Sailing Camp.

Most camps will supply boats for all participants. 

Participants 14 years old and under with a swim weight of 130 lbs. and under will sail in Optimists.  Older and larger participants will sail in Sunfish.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

  1. US Guard approved life jacket (PFD)
  2. tennis or water shoes
  3. swimsuit
  4. t-shirt
  5. hat
  6. sunglasses & croakies
  7. sunscreen
  8. towel
  9. lunch with drink
  10. extra clothes if weather is cold

All items should be marked with the camper's name.
Water & lemonade will be available at all times.
