About Us

Central State Sailing Association has formed an alliance with Oklahoma City Boat, Club, Ninnescah Sailing Club, Windycrest Sailing Club and Grand Maumelle Sailing Club to bring a full summer of sailing opportunities with high-quality professional instruction to primarily youth sailors. The contributing clubs also plan to provide similar instruction at a few adult sailing events. The purpose of this alliance is to increase participation and quality of instruction, and to produce more competitive sailors in the CSSA region.

The focus of instruction will be on Optimists, Sunfish, Lasers, and 420s. The age limits for the youth events are 7 – 18.

  • Youth events will include Sailing Camps
  • Racing Clinics, and on-the-water Regatta Support.
  • The contributing clubs paid for the instruction
& development of the GUST and the sailing
programs and have authority over the events
    they host.

ELIGIBILITY: Individual GUST Memberships are open to all youth sailors. Adult sailing events will be open to adults as determined by the host clubs.

The camps through GUST are well organized.

GUST covers you for all the CSSA Jr regattas for coaching activities as well as any of the learn-to-sail camps.  Yes, the same coach will be at all the regattas for the kids each year.

Housing/travel
Ultimately up to the parents of the kids.  Some clubs will help with transportation if they have the correct facilities and coordination-but never assume it is guaranteed.  This is where the club needs to decide how they want to support JS for their club membership.  If the child is 12 years or older, the hosting club can be contacted in advance (2 weeks requested to find housing for them to stay at a remote camp, such as an NSA child going to OBC.  A family of the club will graciously take the kids to camp, feed them, etc.  I would opt to kick in some funds for them as well.  The other option is that you go down with them and stay at a hotel, with family/friends, or camp.

Boats are made available on a first-come, first-registered basis.
There are only so many to go around.  When the camps become full, we rely on those that have their own boats to help out and bring them so we can support the additional kids.  The best thing in this case is to store the boat in your yard spot so that it can be used during the week as needed.  When a regatta comes up, you have to go out and get it and take it with you, or pack it on the trailer if it has been coordinated that way.

Transportation of boats
In years passed varied on the venue and number of kids going as well as the boats being taken.  The white and red trailer can be used to take some boats of varying size, but it only makes sense if 3 or more boats are going.  That  really depends on the individuals and who would be pulling the trailer - its heavy.  Packing and unpacking of the boats is also the responsibility of each parent-although other arrangements can be made.  Coordination of using the trailers and coach boat for NSA should be made through each club contact (please see below for contacts).
